Who We Are: We are the graduating class of 2019 of the Ridge View Scholars Academy Magnet for Business and Law in Columbia, South Carolina seeking to advocate for the victims of sex trafficking to give back voice to the voiceless in our society.
What We Hope to Achieve: This advocacy work began when we realized that the issue of sex trafficking continued to affect thousands of people every year as it hid in the darkness. We feel that often people are afraid to discuss this sensitive issue because they do not know what they can do to create change. As students of the Scholars Academy Magnet for Business and Law at Ridge View High School, we felt as though we could advocate for this much needed change and bring more attention in our own community and beyond. While conducting our research, we found that the sentence for human trafficking was minimal in the state of South Carolina for the offender and provided little protection for the victim. Our vision is to provide the victims the protection they deserve coming out of a severe state such as sex trafficking and to educate the community on the reality of it and what outsiders can do to help
